Hi John
Love the new site and I’m sure that it will be a great success.
I actually came over to thank you for the SEO book that you sent me.
I’m pretty good with SEO, I’ve read so many of Rand Fishkin’s articles that I’ve almost worn out my glasses, but your book has made me start evaluating my whole approach.
I can’t believe that you are giving this book away!
So much information, directed to bloggers and online marketers and all presented in the unique John Hoff style.
Easy to understand with a smattering of humour to wash it all down.
Can’t thank you enough John, you have rekindled my enthusiasm for SEO.
Move over Rand Fishkin. LOL
BTW – just given you a Google +1.
If you get a minute, I could use a few +1′s on my site.

Hey Keith,
Glad to hear you liked the book. I gave it a lot of thought before I made the book free of charge… oh sorry, I mean my SEO brain lobe download!
It’s unfortunate how sometimes when something is said to be “free” it somehow gets a perceived lower value. I suppose that’s because most guides which are free are “reports”. Glad to see my personality has shown through my writing, it is after all, my brain you downloaded!

I know what you mean about free things John but with your SEO book, nothing could be further from the truth.
Looking forward to some great info on this site John.

I Think you made the right choice to make your book free. It better represents the whole point, that the internet is an open source community were people help each other out. This book can definitely also be a lost leader, which is more valuable in the end. I have only read part of your book so far, but I think it is great. I +1′d you as well. I occasionally write about SEO, as well, on my site. I would love to know what you think about my stuff.

I just attended an online “Raincamp” (ActiveRain) which I found most interesting. Also clearly defines my issues in finding the best path to follow. I heard two diametrically opposed opinions how to get what I want out of blogging. One was driven by blogging only, the other focused on IDX (I am a Realtor, IDX allows consumers to search the multiple listing service on my site through my MLS accounts). By the time I was finished with the “camp”, I wanted to set my hair on fire!
I am reading your ebook now, and find it easy to read and understand and very informative. And it makes sense to me!
You have good, solid advice here. I might have to get up to speed with some of what you are talking about, but the clearest message I am getting so far is the need I have to clean up my blog, (tags and categories) and get backlinks. These are the two toughest things for me to overcome. Lastly, I need consumer subscribers in my area. I have a fair amount of subscribers on my ActiveRain blog, but they are real estate agents, etc, all members, and none of them are going to buy real estate from me. I love the interaction, but the bottom line is I started blogging for business, and they aren’t really my business.
Thank you, glad I ran into this and will certainly be back!

Hi Andrea. Glad you like the book. I always write from the point of view of how I’d like people to explain things to me, which is typically nothing assumed.
About the Realtors, if your following from other agents is sizable, you might consider putting together a product for them. What do you know which you can teach them? People pay money for stellar information.

This is absolutely brilliant John! I loved your breakdown of an impactful blog, and I love your SEO book. Interestingly, I just had 4o of my sites infected by the timthumb.php exploit, and I got a powerful self-education in WordPress Security. I feel like your book would’ve helped me last week, and I get the vibe I’d still learn something if I grabbed it now.
Keep up the fantastic work sir.
You rock.
