WordPress

Not sure if you saw my tweet or checked out my newsletter email I sent yesterday (for WordPress Defender customers)…

But the guys over at WordPress are really pushing hard for every WordPress user to upgrade their sites to the latest release of WordPress (currently 3.0.4).

You can read about the security updates here.

You can download the latest release of WordPress here.

Don’t forget to back up your /wp-content folder and database before upgrades.

Thanks. I must admit I have neglected security on my blog, but then again I don’t think too many people read it just yet!

      Hi Mark.

Don’t fall into the trap of having a sense of false security just because not too many people read your blog.

Hackers can still find your blog through Google and if you haven’t taken precautions to better protect yourself, you blog is at risk. The thing is, usually they don’t want to destroy your blog, they’d rather USE it without you knowing. Perhaps there are hidden links which you can’t see or your site downloads a virus to people’s computers which will do the malicious hacker’s bidding (happened to my wife’s site).

If that happens, your site will be removed from the Google index (also happened to my wife’s website).

It’s best to set up security right at the start. That’s usually the easiest time to do it.
